Violence against Aboriginal women has become a persistent problem in this country. Statistics show that eight out of ten Aboriginal women have experienced some form of violence in their lifetime, and Aboriginal women are eight times more likely to be murdered than non-Aboriginal women. Today, there are approximately 600 known cases of missing and murdered Aboriginal women across Canada, and those numbers continue to climb. Read full post »


Currently, there is a gap in services for people living on-reserve in instances of marriage breakdown. Provincial laws governing the fair division of assets when a marriage fails does not apply on First Nations reserves. The federal Indian Act, which governs most aspects of reserve life, does not address the subject. Read full post »


Well it definitely has been an exciting road to get to the official go-live of Talk4Healing. We successfully launched our free and culturally safe telephone help line for Aboriginal women on October 19th, 2012.
